Custom Army Embroidered Patches for Units, Families and Veterans

Soldiers, Family Readiness Groups, reunion committees and Army veteran associations order custom embroidered patches to mark a deployment, honor a unit's lineage or celebrate a graduating class. We turn your unit's story into a durable patch — with the subdued colors, hook backing and exact sizing that Army gear calls for.

Army customers usually come to us for patches that sit alongside official uniform insignia rather than replace it: company morale patches, deployment commemoratives, Basic and AIT class patches, Ranger and Airborne training class mementos, unit ball and reunion patches, and gifts for retiring NCOs and officers.

Official patches worn on the duty uniform are governed by Army uniform regulations and are normally approved and issued through your chain of command. Before ordering anything intended for wear on duty, check with your unit about what is authorized. For morale, ceremonial and commemorative patches, we can help you design something your soldiers will be proud to keep.

Recommended sizes & shapes

Morale patches that go on loop panels are usually 2 × 3 or 3 × 3.5 inches. Shield, tab and arc shapes are popular, and a separate tab or rocker can carry a nickname or year. Commemorative patches for shadow boxes are often larger — 4 to 5 inches.

Durability

Embroidered patches with a merrowed border and sewn hook backing hold up to field use, and the hook fastener can be removed and reattached thousands of times. PVC is a strong alternative for patches exposed to mud and rain.

Design considerations

Decide early between full color and subdued. Subdued palettes (OCP-friendly tans, browns and greens) blend with field gear; full color is better for keepsakes. Keep mottos short — Latin phrases and long unit names may need a woven patch to stay legible. If your design includes an official unit insignia or Department of the Army emblem, make sure you have the necessary permission to reproduce it.

FAQ

Army Embroidered Patches FAQs

Can I wear a custom patch on my Army uniform?

Only patches authorized by Army uniform regulations and your command may be worn on the duty uniform. Custom morale and commemorative patches are typically worn on personal gear or kept as keepsakes. Check with your unit before ordering patches for duty wear.

Do you make subdued Army patches?

Yes. We can produce patches in OCP-compatible tans and browns, or in black-and-tan palettes, with hook backing for loop panels.

Are you affiliated with the U.S. Army?

No. The Embroidered Patch is an independent manufacturer. We produce custom patches for soldiers, families and organizations who are authorized to use their artwork.
