Custom Fire Department Patches Built for Firefighters

Fire department patches carry generations of tradition — from the Maltese cross to the station numbers and mottos that crews wear with pride. We produce shoulder patches, anniversary patches, fundraising and awareness patches for career and volunteer departments across the country.

Fire departments come to us for:

  • Department shoulder patches for station and Class A uniforms
  • Anniversary patches marking 50, 100 or 150 years of service
  • Awareness and fundraising patches, such as pink October patches
  • Specialty team patches — hazmat, technical rescue, wildland, dive and arson units
  • Fire academy and recruit class patches
  • Memorial patches honoring fallen firefighters

Volunteer departments often run on tight budgets, so our 10-piece minimum and clear quotes help you order exactly what you need. Career departments can plan larger runs and keep consistent reorders on file.

Traditional design elements

The Maltese cross, crossed axes, ladders, helmets, hydrants and engine silhouettes are classic elements. Red, gold and black remain popular, and metallic gold thread adds a ceremonial touch for Class A uniforms. If your department has an established patch, we will rebuild it faithfully from a sample.

Common patch applications

  • Department shoulder patches
  • Anniversary and centennial patches
  • Awareness and fundraising patches
  • Specialty team patches
  • Academy and memorial patches

Recommended sizes & shapes

Shoulder patches are commonly 3.5 to 4.5 inches, often using a Maltese cross, shield or rounded-top shape. Laser-cut borders can follow the points of a Maltese cross precisely.

Durability

Station uniforms are washed often. Embroidered patches with polyester thread and merrowed edges last best. Note that patches are not part of turnout gear protection — follow your department's PPE rules for anything attached to protective clothing.

Design considerations

Choose bold symbols that read clearly at shoulder height. Keep department names short in arcs above or below the emblem. If you include a municipal seal or official emblem, confirm your department has the authority to reproduce it.

FAQ

Fire Department Patches FAQs

Can you make a patch in the shape of a Maltese cross?

Yes. A laser-cut or custom-shaped border can follow the Maltese cross outline precisely.

Can we sew patches on turnout gear?

Turnout gear must meet protective standards, and adding patches may affect compliance. Follow your department's PPE policy and the gear manufacturer's guidance before attaching anything to protective clothing.

Do you make fundraising patches for volunteer departments?

Yes. Fundraising and awareness patches are popular with volunteer departments, and our 10-piece minimum makes small runs affordable.
