Hook-and-loop patches

Custom Hook-and-Loop Patches You Can Swap Anytime

Hook-and-loop patches have a hook fastener sewn to the back, so they stick to any loop panel and can be removed or swapped in seconds. They are standard on tactical uniforms, plate carriers, flight suits and backpacks, and are the backing of choice for morale patches.

With hook-and-loop backing, one jacket or bag can carry different patches for different roles, events or seasons. Personnel can remove patches before laundering, and departments can reassign uniforms without re-sewing.

We sew the hook side onto the back of your patch. If the garment or gear does not already have a loop panel, we can also supply a matching loop piece that you sew onto the garment — just ask for "hook and loop pairs" on your quote.

Hook-and-loop backing is available on embroidered, woven, PVC and leather patches. PVC patches with hook backing are especially popular because both parts stand up to rain and mud.

Tips for long life

Close loop panels and patches face to face before washing to stop the hook from collecting lint. Keep a spare loop strip to protect the hook when the patch is stored.

FAQ

Hook-and-loop patch FAQs

Do you include the loop side?

We sew the hook side onto the patch. Matching loop pieces are available on request — just mention it when you request your quote.

Is hook-and-loop backing durable?

Yes. Industrial hook fastener is sewn around the edge and holds strongly. Closing patches face to face before washing keeps the hook clean and gripping.

Can any patch type have hook-and-loop backing?

Embroidered, woven, PVC and leather patches can all have hook backing. Chenille patches are usually sewn on.
